Photo 199: Entertainers
As a photographer, if you’re shooting live music its up to you to try and find interesting angles and shots. If the performer stays glued to the spot, then you’ve got to get up and move around for other angles, maybe something artsy fartsy with a subtle background and out of focus parts, or the audience included in the front perhaps. Antonio however, makes it very easy to take shots. Other than being a good looking fella, he’s enthusiastic, energetic and fully charismatic, so there are cheeky grins, lots of movement in and out of shadows, raised feet, stomping, guitar lifting high, powerful bellows and more. I sometimes wonder, if as a photographer, its out of our control or whether we should perhaps suggest to musicians who are in perhaps the early stages of their career, that a certain amount of how to spread the word about them comes from their presence on stage. A little movement, a little character. Maybe not standing in a certain part of the stage. Maybe I should just get off my arse more and move about. Half of the battle is being more confident. People like Fiona and Rae, Martin and Sam are great at helping boost my confidence in my own ability. I just need to put the effort in and deliver.
Anyway, thanks Antonio, for being such a fun person to shoot.
